Welcome to the Bristol Group of Amnesty International. We are one of almost 300 local groups that operate in the UK and contribute to Amnesty International's work to defend human rights around the world.

We are a friendly and energetic group of local people that:
- Raise local awareness about human rights
- Organise events and stalls
- Fundraise
- Campaign with letter writing and lobbying

Join us for our monthly meeting, a great chance to get involved and take part in some current campaigns

Monday 19th December: Monthly Meeting
@ 7.30 pm at the Youth Hostel on Narrow Quay.
This meeting will focus on the greeting card campign where you will have a chance
to send messages of solidarity and seasonal greetings to prisoners of conscience
around the world. There will be alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks on offer. If
you wish
to bring some small snacks mince pies, crisps etc. please do. Also Xmas
music. If anybody wishes to bring their Cliff Richard collection, carols
etc. CD's please bring them along.
Our monthly meeting is a great chance to get involved and take part in some current campaigns
Friday 9th December- Saturday 10th December: Write-a-thon
To Celebrate International Human Rights day, Bristol Amnesty will be holding
a letter writing marathon. Writing letters for prisoners of conscience for 24
hours. Drop by anytime and write a letter, or if you are really keen, stay all
night! The Write for Rights letter-writing marathon will be starting at 3pm on the
9th of December , & goes on until 9pm (ish) on the 10th . That's at Broadmead
Baptist Church , Union St. BS1 3HY
Friday 2nd December: Group Social
7.30pm at the Quaker Meeting House on the Gloucester Road, (near to the cricket ground) Being a Quaker venue there is no alcohol and no stilettos allowed. We will have some nibbles and soft drinks on the evening, feel free to bring some bits along if you wish.

With a talk from local member Tori on Bhopal
Please join us for our AGM. All the positions in our commitee will be up for grabs so its a great chance to get involved. We would love some new people to stand, you don't need loads of expereince, just enthusiasm and a bit of spare time. And even if you don't want to be on the commitee come along and find out a bit about what we do! Please get in touch if you have any questions.
